Las carreteras francesas han vuelto a sonreír a Mads Pedersen. El ciclista del Trek-Segafredo comenzó el mes de febrero con victoria en la Estrella de Bessèges, hizo lo mismo a principios de marzo en la París-Niza y ahora ha estrenado abril alzando los brazos en la primera etapa del Circuito de la Sarthe.
Pero a diferencia del triunfo conseguido en la prueba gala del World Tour, en esta ocasión lo ha hecho en fuga, mostrándose muy ofensivo y superior al resto de rivales. El danés se filtró en la segunda escapada del día, junto a otros diez ciclistas, la cual se conformó en el circuito final en torno a la localidad de Mamers. En los esprints intermedios logró bonificar y, pese a ser el más rápido del grupo, pasó al ataque en los kilómetros finales, intentando zafarse de hombres como Ganna, Pinot, Gougeard o Cosnefroy. El pelotón no logró dar caza a esta decena de ciclistas y todo se resolvió en una llegada donde Pedersen demostró con claridad que era el más rápido.
Martí Vigo (Drone Hopper), el único español, abandonó la prueba.
