El joven belga Alec Segaert, especialista en la lucha contra el reloj, se ha llevado la victoria en la segunda etapa del Tour de Renewi, una contrarreloj de 15,5 kilómetros en la que el de Lotto Dstny ha sido el único ciclista capaz de bajar de los 17 minutos, después de que el suizo Stefan Bisseger haya estado con el mejor tiempo durante la mayor parte de la etapa. El de Team Education salió de los primeros y su tiempo no fue batido hasta el tramo final.

El estadounidense Magnus Sheffield, también especialista en este tipo de pruebas, ha terminado en la segunda posición, con un tiempo final de 17:06, mientras que el mencionado Bisseger firmaba 17:09 y se tenía que conformar con el tercer puesto. Tobias Foss, Ben Turner, Tim Wellens, Christophe Laporte o Alberto Bettiol, corredores que pueden ser importantes de cara a la clasificación general final, lograron un buen puesto entre los diez primeros, aprovechando, todos ellos, que Filippo Ganna, seguramente el gran favorito para el día de hoy, no tomaba la salida.

Lejos de los primeros puestos ha terminado Milan, ganador ayer y primer líder de la prueba. Segaert toma el relevo del sprinter italiano de Lidl Trek y se sitúa en el primer puesto de la general, con 12 segundos de ventaja sobre Tobias Foss y 16 con respecto a Tim Wellens.

Este viernes llega una teórica nueva oportunidad para los hombres rápidos de la carrera, que siguen siendo muchos y muy buenos pese a los recientes abandonos de Olav Kooij o Dylan Groenewgen, caídos en la jornada de ayer. El primer día se llevó el gato al agua el italiano Jonathan Milan, con Philipsen muy cerca, así que se prevé otra intensa pelea por lograr una victoria que, sin tener el prestigio de una ‘volata’ del Tour o del Giro, sí tendría el aura de haberla logrado frente a los mejores del planeta de esta especialidad.
