El equipo INEOS Grenadiers se ha impuesto en la contrarreloj por equipos de la tercera jornada del Tour of Britain. El equipo de casa consolida así como nuevo líder a Ethan Hayter, que tratará de defender el liderato como ya hizo en Noruega hace apenas dos semanas. Los británicos fueron más veloces que los conjuntos Deceuninck (2º) y Jumbo (3º), que solo compitió con cinco ciclistas por la baja de Chris Harper tras la jornada previa. El equipo Rally, del hasta ahora líder Robin Carpenter, cedió un minuto y medio, perdiendo el liderato.
En cuanto a la participación española, Movistar acabó 7º a 1’08», colocando a Gonzalo Serrano en el puesto 13º de la general, tan solo cuatro plazas por delante de Carlos Rodríguez (17º) que entró junto al resto de compañeros que marcaron el mejor tiempo. Por su parte, Caja Rural llegó a meta en la 15ª posición, a 2’25». Una de las escuadras que salió peor parada de la contrarreloj fue el Qhubeka de Carlos Barbero, que cedió 2’20» en la llegada tras tener problemas en carrera para mantener unidos a sus últimos cuatro hombres que debían marcar el tiempo definitivo.
En la cuarta etapa, la más larga de esta edición, esperan a los ciclistas 210 kilómetros con cuatro ascensiones puntuables y final en las duras rampas de Llandudno (Gales) (1.9 km al 9.4%).
