Giovanni Lonardi (Nippo-Vini Fantini-Faizané) se ha impuesto en la quinta y última etapa del Tour de Taiwán (2.1), de 192 kilómetros con salida y llegada en Pingtung, mientras que el australiano Jonathan Clarke (Floyd’s Pro Cycling) se ha asegurado el triunfo en la general final.
Se trata de la primera victoria como profesional para Lonardi, velocista de 22 años que ya había dado al palo en la segunda y la tercera etapa. Es también el primer éxito del 2019 para la escuadra de Francesco Pelosi. El joven veronés fue el más rápido en la llegada masiva por delante del estadounindense Eric Young (Elevate) y su compañero, el japonés Hayato Yoshida (Nippo-Vini Fantini-Faizané).
La general ha sido para el veterano Jonathan Clarke (Floyd’s), que logra así su primer triunfo en una vuelta por etapas y el segundo de su trayectoria tras el conseguido en la segunda etapa del mismo Tour de Taiwán. El aussie ha aventajado en seis segundos a James Piccoli (Elevate) y en diez al neerlandés Etienne Van Empel (Neri Sottoli-Selle Italia-KTM), que han completado el podio.
El primer español en la general ha sido el murciano Salvador Guardiola (Kinan Cycling Team), decimotercero a solo 16 segundos del ganador final, mientras que su compañero de equipo, el madrileño Marcos García, ha terminado 26º en el mismo tiempo.
