Tobias Foss se ha metido en el bolsillo, a falta de la última etapa, la victoria e el Tour del Porvenir. El noruego fue soltando uno a uno a sus directos rivales en la ascensión a Tignes, solo superado en meta por un extraordinario Attila Valter. El húngaro se exhibió en el puerto final deshaciéndose del resto de fugados en donde iban filtrados Jon Agirre e Iñigo Elosegui. Sería Agirre el más ofensivo de la pareja española pero nada pudo hacer ante el empuje de Valter que a falta de 4 km de meta consiguió dejar al guipuzcoano para imponerse en solitario en línea de meta.
Jon Agirre sería finalmente sexto en la clasificación de la etapa. Elosegui, 16º, descolgado hizo la parte final ayudando al mejor español en la general Urko Berrade (17º) que se mantiene décimo pero se distancia de los puesto de honor en más de 5 minutos.
