Andrea Pasqualon (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) ha puesto la guinda del pastel a dos días magníficos para su equipo, que ayer se llevó la etapa y la general del Giro de la Toscana con Guillaume Martin. Pasqualon ha sido el más rápido por delante de Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain), ganador el año pasado, y Francesco Gavazzi (Androni). En la lucha por la etapa se ha metido el español Eduard Prades (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), que venció hace dos años en esta prueba. Prades ha finalizado quinto.
La jornada ha estado protagonizada por una fuga en la que de nuevo se metía un corredor del Caja Rural-Seguros RGA: Óscar Pelegrí (Caja Rural-RGA) se sumaba a los Vendrame (Androni), Tonelli (Bardiani-Csf), Debesay (Dimension Data), Gampre (Tirol), Zhupa (Wilier-Selle Italia) y Nakane (Nippo-Vini Fantini), aunque la escapada acabó por ceder a 25 kilómetros de meta.
La prueba se ha disputado sobre 195,9 kilómetros, con meta y llegada en Peccioli sobre varios circuitos de diferentes kilometrajes.
Edu Prades: «Me he encontrado con buenas piernas en el sprint. Cuando gané aquí hace dos años arranqué muy pronto y esta vez he creído que nos afectaría más el viento, así que he querido esperar a un poco más tarde. Lamentablemente creo que me he equivocado de pleno».
