El italiano Jakub Mareczko (Wilier Triestina) ha comenzado la temporada 2018 (oficialmente arrancó el pasado día 25 de octubre) igual que terminó la de 2017: ganando en tierras chinas. El corredor del Wilier Triestina-Selle Italia, que en el reciente Tour del Lago Taihu (2.1) se llevó cinco de las siete etapas, la general, los puntos y la general del mejor joven (tiene 23 años), ha vuelto por sus fueros en la segunda etapa del Tour de Hainan (2.HC), donde se ha impuesto en la segunda etapa, disputada esta madrugada (hora española) entre las ciudades de Wanning Xinglong y Haikou sobre 230 kilómetros con sólo una pequeña dificultad montañosa en el ecuador de la misma.
Gracias a este triunfo Mareczko se coloca como líder de la general en detrimento del español Jon Aberasturi, que fue el primer vencedor en esta edición de la carrera. Hoy, el honor de ser el mejor español ha correspondido a Mikel Aristi (Delko Marseille Provence KTM), que ha terminado en octava posición. Jon Aberasturi (UKYO) es segundo en la general a 7 segundos del líder Mareczko.
