Echó a rodar el Tour de Japón 2019 con un prólogo de apenas 2,6 kilómetros en los alrededores de la ciudad de Sakai. El ganador fue el local Atsushi Oka (Utsunomiya Blitzen), quien por un segundo logró ganar a su compatriota Kazushige Kuboki (Bridgestone Cycling) y al colombiano Orluis Aular (Matrix Powertag). El mejor clasificado por parte española fue el tarraconense Benjamin Prades, finalizando a 9″ del vencedor en 22ª posición. El anterior campeón de la ronda nipona, Marcos García, sería 47º a 13″. Francisco Mancebo, con el mismo tiempo que Prades, Salvador Guardiola, José Vicente Toribio, Pablo Torres y Joan Bou, todos cerca del crono de García, son el resto de representantes nacionales.
