El irlandés Ben Healy, de 18 años -11/09/2000- de la formación Mundial de Ciclismo UCI que reúne un elenco de corredores sin selección nacional en liza, se ha impuesto en solitario en la llegada a Saint-Julien-Chapteuil en la quinta etapa del Tour del Porvenir bajo un tremendo aguacero que apareció de forma rotunda en la parte final de la carrera. Healy aventajó en cinco segundos a sus perseguidores el danés Morten Hulgaard y el estadounidense Matteo Jorgenson en una jornada de media montaña de 158,9 kms con inicio en Espalion.
Por su lado, el corredor del seleccionado francés Simon Gluglielmi mantuvo el liderato sosteniendo una mínima ventaja sobre el italiano Giovanni Aleotti (+1″) y el noruego Tobias Foss (+47″). En cuanto a la expedición española, en meta Íñigo Elosegui fue el mejor finalizando en 21º posición.
