El holandés Ivar Slik es el primer líder del Tour de Rumanía (2.1 UCI) tras ser el ganador de la primera etapa de la mano de su compatriota y compañero de equipo Monkey Town, Alex Molenaar, que obtuvieron una renta de 46 segundos sobre el pelotón liderado por el campeón local, Eduard Grosu, vistiendo los colores de la selección cedido por el Delko galo.
Slik, de 26 años, afronta ya su octava campaña como profesional pasando dos años (2015-2016) en el Roompot profesional antes de recalar en el Monkey continental en 2017. Es su quinta victoria y segunda del año después de otra en suelo rumano, el prólogo del Sibiu Tour.
La prueba no tiene participación española.
