El checo Frantisek Sisr (CCC) se ha llevado el trunfo en la Ronde van Drenthe después de haber sido el más rápido en el sprint protagonizado por un grupo de sólo una docena de ciclistas que ha llegado con ventaja a la línea de meta.
Ha sido el holandés Floris Gerts (Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij) el que se encargó de iniciar la pelea por el triunfo con un ataque que por momentos pareció que iba a ser bueno, pero fue neutralizado prácticamente bajo la pancarta del último kilómetro y, aunque lo volvió a intentar ya dentro de esos últimos mil metros, no pudo evitar que Sisr acabara llevándose el triunfo al ser más rápido en meta que los belgas Dries De Bondt (Vérandas Willems-Crelan) y Preben Van Hecken (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise).
La prueba neerlandesa no contaba con participación española.
