Tras su triplete en el Giro de Italia, victoria en el cierre de Roma incluida, Sam Bennett ha completado el póker este año al llevarse la Vuelta a Colonia alemana (Rund um Köln, UCI 1.1), de 207 kilómetros, al batir al sprint al estonio Mihkel Raïm (Israel Cycling) y a Marcel Kittel (Katusha), que no ha podido ser profeta en su tierra. El irlandés releva así a su compañero Gregor Mühlberger, vencedor el año pasado, y se convierte en el corredor más productivo de Bora-Hansgrohe en lo que va de 2018, por delante de Peter Sagan, con tres triunfos.
